At times you may want to tame a new pet. Before you can do that you will need to give your old pet to a tamer. Simply speak to a pet tamer and that person will take care of the rest. — Mara, Expert Ranger. An animal companion (colloquial: pet) is an ally that can follow and fight alongside a ranger in combat zones.

A full list of tameable pet locations can be found in the Guild Wars 2 wiki. To tame a new pet, approach a friendly (green) creature named “Juvenile _ ” and click F to charm the pet. One of the most common ranger pets, particularly for low-level characters, as it can be chosen at character creation.
Compared with Guild Wars 1, Guild Wars 2 is rather uninspired in the ranger pet department. What's more - we help Skritt tame the mushrooms for a couple of events so the premise of being able to work with them is already in game! You could have two types of mushroom pets: one with charge and one with a ranged attack.
