Just wondering because I've heard that Half Life 2 is one of the best first person shooters ever. However, those claims came out alongside the game in late 2004 and a lot has come out since then. Having never played it, is it still worth spending time to play it today and how does it hold up

of course it is. hl2 is a sequel. and btw hl1 is a good game too. Personally, I played Half Life 2 long before I played HL1 (still haven't beat Half-Life 1 or Black Mesa, though I've gotten pretty damn close) to be honest, just play whichever ones interest you in the order you want to.
